In the Anchoring series, I explore rootedness in a persistent gentleness that asserts itself and becomes a subtle yet powerful form of resistance. The figures I paint, primarily Black women, embody a spiritual sovereignty, a silent victory nourished by ancestral legacies, invisible struggles, and the joys of the present.

Through these canvas paintings, I highlight a state of serenity and inner peace that transcends the surrounding hostilities. This dialogue between gentleness and power is inspired by the complexity of the states of mind linked to the experiences of the identities I explore and observe. My figures embody a spiritual and emotional elevation toward an inner sovereignty, deeply rooted in our Haitian and Afro-diasporic heritages.

The works in this series are paintings on canvas created with a brush and airbrush, with particular attention paid to preserving the traces of the gesture through the texture, in order to express the tension between fragility and power. They are composed in a palette of natural colors, mixing earthy and vibrant hues.
