Through my Symbiose series, I explore the encounter between the sacred, nature and Afro-diasporic identity. My exhibition highlights the intimate connection that unites us to nature by capturing the enigmatic and sacred beauty of this bond.
My series of works is composed of paintings on canvas created in an aesthetic that mixes classical art and street art techniques. The characters I paint are imbued with symbolism, embodying their spirituality and reflecting the way in which our socio-political identity influences our relationship with nature and its sacredness. I approach them through the prism of Afro-diasporic identity and tinged with the influence of capitalism. I draw inspiration from this complex relationship to create works that express both tension and harmony in an Afro-urban aesthetic that is unique to me.
