Golden Child
Golden Child is an original acrylic and airbrush painting for sale by Montreal-based Black contemporary artist MALICIOUZ. This contemporary figurative artwork depicts a young Black child with a transcendent gaze, placed at the center of a horizontal composition, looking straight ahead. Their eyes immediately draw the viewer in, carrying an almost mystical intensity.


A large eagle unfolds behind the child: its wings span nearly the entire width of the canvas and rise above them, its head appearing directly above the child’s, its talons resting on the child’s shoulders, in a frontal, protective composition.


The technique blends brushwork and airbrush, creating an interplay of bold and ethereal textures. Light in the background creates a halo around the child, while the eagle embodies a form of protection and symbolism. Despite their young age, the child is presented as a great and powerful entity. The color palette is dominated by brown, beige, and white.
