Wild Serenity

Sérénité Sauvage is an original figurative painting featuring a close-up view of half of a Black woman’s face. Her eyes are open, with a mysterious and penetrating gaze. Partially submerged in water, her face fills the canvas and becomes the focal point of the composition. Her hair is styled in cornrows. The waterline crosses her face and extends into a dark reflection, creating a dreamlike, floral and semi-abstract atmosphere.


Beside her, a large pink flower blooms with its pollen ablaze. The glowing pollen heightens the contrast between the flower’s organic softness and the mysterious intensity of her gaze.
